With its playful style, Grüne Schlossglocken will delight both ringers and their audiences. The title is literally translated as "green castle bells," a reference to the location of the group for which this work was composed.

The work is a very approachable work for a beginning/intermediate handbell ensemble, and would be an excellent selection for conductors interested in working on ensemble dynamics, tempo control, and simple key changes. The work is in F major, with the development section in C minor.

The majority of the piece contains normal ringing, with a shake, mart, and pluck included only in the finale, allowing developing ringers to focus on their attacks and placement of their notes in the rhythm.

Grüne Schlossglocken would make an excellent processional to begin a performance, or as an anthem in a worship service.

"Composed for the youth handbell ringers of Gobin United Methodist Church of Greencastle, Indiana. Rick Miller, pastor."
